MCGS will be presenting a talk in conjunction with Monmouth County Parks System on Saturday September 18 from 2 to 4 pm. at the Thompson Park Visitors Center Beech Room. Learn tricks and techniques to make your visit to a cemetery worth the effort. You must register with the county parks system to attend.

Who – What – When – Where & Why of cemeteries will be discussed:  Types of cemeteries and their records.  Where was the deceased buried?  Finding the name & location of a cemetery.   How to find the cemetery records.  Do the records indicate who purchased the plot, who else is buried there or whether “removals” have occurred?  Planning a visit, items to take with you and safety tips.  How to read & enhance what is written on tombstones.  Abstracting and documenting that information
