Tactics for Federal Bounty Land Research

The federal government used land as an inducement for military service from the Revolution through the Mexican War. Veterans had to apply for their bounty land, and these applications provide a wealth of genealogical data. In recent years, finding aids have become available on-line, simplifying research that once required on-site work at the National Archives.
